Introduction
The Guide to North American
Graduate and Postgraduate Training Programs in Human
Genetics was created to serve as a reference source
for undergraduate students, graduate students, and
others who are considering careers in human
genetics. The Guide focuses only on programs that
offer graduate and postgraduate training
specifically designed to prepare individuals for
careers in human genetics. Every effort has been
made to include all relevant programs in the Guide;
however, some programs may have been omitted, either
because our invitation to submit an entry did not
reach their directors/contact persons or because we
received no response.
We have designed the program
descriptions so that all pertinent information about
individual programs and application policies is
included. Program accreditations are verified by The
American Board of Medical Genetics; The American
Board of Genetic Counseling; The Accreditation
Council for Graduate Medical Education, Residency
Review Committee; The Canadian College of Medical
Geneticists; and The Royal College of Physicians and
Surgeons of Canada. Students and other users are
urged to contact directly the persons listed in
particular programs.
When you return to the main
screen, please click on the appropriate menu item to
access program descriptions of institutions listed
alphabetically by name. Note that in the case of
joint programs, names of institutions are separated
by a slash with names in the order provided by the
submitter. You may also click on a menu item to
access a geographical index of institutions, or to
review notes on the accreditation process of
institutions in this online Guide.
The Guide is sponsored by the
Information and Education Committee of The American
Society of Human Genetics. We benefited greatly from
the work of those individuals who prepared previous
editions. We also are grateful for the efforts of
the ASHG Executive Director and to our publications
staff.
